Tanzania family safari special start with meet and greet at Kilimanjaro international airport followed by private transfer to Planet lodge in Arusha. Later our safari manager will come for detailed safari briefing before leaving you to spend the rest of the day acquainting with lodge environment. In the morning after breakfast meet your well experienced & friendly safari driver guide & start your Tanzania family safari and Zanzibar beach.
Best Tanzania Family Safari Special Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Arusha
Distance: 50 km
On arrival our safari manager will meet you at Kilimanjaro international airport & drive to Planet lodge in Arusha. Planet lodge is one of the best lodge at the suburb of Arusha town offering a stunning view of Meru Mountain (4,566 m). The lodge has bunches of traditional African style huts located at the tropical garden, there is a little pool insurances reviving minutes on a hot day. After check in our safari manager will go through your 12 days family safari special package before leaving you to enjoy the rest of the day at your lodge.
Overnight at Planet lodge in Arusha town. Dinner & breakfast included.
Day 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park
Distance: 120 km
Non game driving time: 2 to 3 hrs.
After breakfast meet you safari driver guide at the lobby & leave for Tarangire National Park via Arusha town where you can change money or do any last minute purchase. Tarangire is the fifth largest National park in Tanzania well known for its beautiful landscape. Tarangire River, larger elephant population and the majestic baobab trees dwarfing some animal species which comes underneath it are the highlights of this park.
Tarangire – Lake Manyara ecosystem forms a cycle of annual migration of over 3000 elephant, wildebeest & zebras. Apart from elephant population you may expect to spot giraffe, buffalo, zebra, warthog & the three rare species of Lesser & Greater Kudu, Oryx and the Ash staling.

Day 3: Family Activities at Lake Manyara – Lake Eyasi
Distance: L/Manyara- L/Eyasi 84 km
Since you have previously spent much time sitting in the plane & the car, this day will take you for some physical activities guided by a trained local guide. You will firstly walk through Mto wa mbu Village where you can experience some social and economic activities, education issues and many more (local lunch will be served in the village)’ Alternatively is a biking tour through the village & along the shore of lake Manyara which will include canoeing ride at the Lake. In the afternoon drive to Lake Eyasi for more cultural encounter including visit Datoga tribe & the blacksmith. Late afternoon you may go to the Lake shore for sunset.

Day 4: Lake Eyasi – Ngorongoro Crater
Distance: 60 km
Non game viewing time: 1 to 2 hrs.
On this day you will have an early morning hunting with bushman including tuition on survival skills. Bushman is an indigenous tribe divided into three clans of Hadzabe, Datoga & Tindiga living in hunting & gathering of eggs, fruits & tubes pretty much the same as people who lived in Stone Age. Before noon you will depart for Ngorongoro highlands and ascent into the Crater for a wonderful game viewing, (packed lunch will be served inside the crater floor.
Ngorongoro Crater is one of the best attraction in Tanzania and it is regarded by many as one of the nature wonder of the world. As very few animals migrate in and out of this 600 meters crater wall you can expect to see animals in a very close range including lions, hyenas, black rhino, buffaloes, elephants, hippos, and many bird species. This is among the few places in the world where the rare black rhino can be seen in their natural habitats and it is possible to spot the Big Five in the course of one day of game drives.

Day 5: Ngorongoro – Serengeti National Park
Distance: 85 km
Non game viewing time: 2 to 3 hrs.
Great family safari special and Zanzibar 12 days proceed, after breakfast leave for Serengeti National Park the world famous wildlife sanctuary and UNESCO’s nature and Biosphere Reserve. A lot to be seen on the way, you will drive across Ngorongoro highlands & down to the plains of Serengeti, grazing zebra, elephant, giraffe and many antelopes to be spotted on the way.
You will then visit the traditional Masai village where some Masai warriors invite you and show you in around and give some information of their customary life. Afterward their popular jumping dance will begin and if you want you can join them and jump high. They will then take you inside the houses, meet their kids, you can ask questions and take some pictures.
Reach Naabi Hill gate and enter the Serengeti Park, you can take your packed lunch at Naabi Hill gate or at the Copjes (rock outcropping) which are past Naabi Hills gate, lion, cheetah and sometime leopard can be seen around this big rocks. Proceed with game driving in the Serengeti and reach your Camp during or before the sunset.

Day 6: Full Day Game Viewing in Serengeti
On the 6 day of your great family safari special (If you wish) you can start with the first rays of the sun at 06:30, for an early morning game drives in the Serengeti, (packed breakfast box and lunch box will be on board), follow the Wildebeest Migration if it is packed in Serengeti and spend much time with them or drive around with possibilities of spotting cat family on the road as they avoid morning mist. You may also see some other nocturnal predators coming back from their long night of hunting or some lioness organizing an ambush while other animals are coming out from their hiding place ready to start the new day.
Beak for breakfast in the bush and after, continue with game drives to where the migration of herds are parked. In the afternoon you can have your packed lunch at Seronera visitor’s center and after lunch you can have a short visit at the center where you can read some interesting documentary about Serengeti. Embark with your afternoon game drives and return to your camp a bit early for relaxation and sunset watching.

Day 7: Serengeti – Zanzibar
After your last breakfast in Serengeti at the camp we take you to Seronera airstrip to catch your flight to Zanzibar. On arrival at Zanzibar airport our representative will meet you and take you to your beach Resort and you will go through the program for Zanzibar before they leave you to enjoy the tropical white sand beaches of Zanzibar.
Overnight at Ocean Paradise Beach Resort. Dinner and breakfast included.
Day 8 – 10: Zanzibar Beach
Relax and enjoy the sparkling Zanzibar beaches. If you wish you can organize some water sports at your Resort ranging from Diving, snorkeling, Fishing and many more. Breakfast included.
Overnight at Ocean Paradise Beach Resort. Dinner and breakfast included.
Day 11: Beach to Stone Town
After breakfast, we transfer you to Stone town, on the way (Option) you can do our famous Spice tour with detailed information of spices and organically grown herbs, our knowledgeable guide will take you around the spice farm where you can see, touch and even test most of the spices grown around like cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, paper, nutmeg, Vanilla and others. The guide will explain their uses in cooking, cosmetics and in medicine at the end you will test some of the tropical fruits like Jacky fruit, durian, passion fruit, mangoes and many more depending on the season. After the tour, you will go to spice restaurant for delicious Zanzibar dishes cooed with several spices. (See Zanzibar Island.
Drive to you hotel in Stone town. Later, if you wish you can have some short walks around this old and historical town of Zanzibar (on own).

Day 12: Departure
In the Morning after breakfast & depending on your flight time, (Option) we can take you for our guided Stone town tour, where you can visit most of the historical sites like the Central market of Zanzibar to see some fresh fish coming from different angle of the Island, the Former Slave Market, The House of Wonders, The Old Fort, The palace Museum, and an interesting walks along the narrow lines of the stone town where you can still shop around on the way. Later we take you to Zanzibar Airport for your flight back home.
