Happy African family safari and Zanzibar beach holidays start when our representaive meet you at Kilimanjaro international airport and transfer to Ilboru safari lodge in Arusha. Later our safari manager will come for detailed safari briefing before leaving you to enjoy the great atmosphere of Arusha city & the lodge facilities. In the morning after breakfast meet your safari driver guide and start your Tanzania wildlife safari.

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
Distance: 50 km
On arrival at Kilimanjaro international airport meet our representative and drive to Ilboru Safari Lodge. This is a beautiful lodge with a great view of both Mt. Kilimanjaro and Meru, the lodge is only about 50 km from Kilimanjaro airport. Later our safari manager will come for detailed safari briefing & leave you to enjoy lodge’s facilities like big swimming pool beautiful garden etc.

Day 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park
Distance: 139 km
Non game driving time: 2 to 3 hours
After breakfast meet you safari driver guide at the lobby & depart for Tarangire National Park via Arusha town where you can change money or do any last minute purchase. Tarangire is the fifth largest National park in Tanzania well known for its beautiful landscape. Tarangire River, larger elephant population and the majestic baobab trees dwarfing some animal species which comes beneath it are the highlights of this park.
Tarangire – Lake Manyara ecosystem forms a cycle of annual migration of over 3000 elephant, 2500 zebras & wildebeest. Apart from elephant population you may expect to spot giraffe, buffalo, zebra, warthog & rare three species of Great Kudu, Fringed-eared Oryx and the Ash staling, later drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Tarangire – Mto wa Mbu Cultural Tour
Distance: 55 km
After spending you first day in the car, on this day African family safari takes you out of the car for some physical activities around the Great East African Rift Valley. Guided by well-trained local guide you will firstly walk through a famous town of Mto wa mbu to village. Your guide will introduce you to the local village with detailed information on their social life, economic activities, education and many others things. Alternatively, you can visit a large banana plantation, one of the major crops that contribute a lot to local economy. Your guide will explain about how this agricultural meaning to the locals.
Later on you can walk along a small forest populated by monkeys and Dirk dik leads to Miwaleni River. Following the River is exciting, (maybe little strength is needed) to hike and climb over rocks and stones till you lastly reach Miwaleni waterfall hidden at the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Late afternoon drive to Bougainvillea safari lodge for dinner & overnight. On the way you will have a brief stop at Lake Manyara view point for washroom & some nice picture of Lake Manyara & its forest form the edge of the Great Rift Valley.

Day 4: Tarangire – Serengeti National Park
Distance: 145 km
Non game viewing time: 3 to 4 hours
After breakfast depart for Serengeti National Park, a lot of things and animals to be seen on the way. En route you will visit a Maasai Boma (traditional village) where some Maasai warriors welcomes you & take you in and around their houses while explaining their traditional life around this area, you will meet children & other family members where you can ask questions and take photos. Later they will sing & dance their traditional songs which involve high jumping, they will invite you to join in if you like. After all these drive towards Nabi hills gate for check into Serengeti. You can have your packed lunch at this area or further ahead at the Kopje (rock outcropping).
After lunch & some rest continue with your en route game drive toward central Serengeti while searching for big cats & the wildebeest migration (depending on traveling date). You may expect to spot lion, hyena. cheetahs, jackals & leopard, herds of African elephant, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, hippos, warthog & many bird species can also be seen. Late afternoon drive to Thorn trees Camp at Central Serengeti for dinner & overnight.
You will spend 2 nights in a comfortable tented camp at the edge of the famous Serengeti with views over the endless Savannah full of animals and typically African acacia trees. Enjoy some relaxing hours at the camp fire under open sky after dinner, talking with other guests and the charming security guards.

Day 5: Full Day Game Drive in Serengeti
on this day African family safari takes you for an early morning game drive in the wild rich Serengeti National park starting at 06:30, you will leave the camp with breakfast box & lunch box, early morning game drive can enable you to see some cat family on the road as they try to avoid morning mist. You may also expect see other nocturnal predators returning home after their long night of hunting and other animals waking up in early morning light or a group of lioness organizing morning ambush. later break for breakfast somewhere in the bush, after breakfast is more game drive & then lunch at the nearby picnic site.
After lunch & some rest depending on where you are you can visit an interesting Seronera Visitor’s Center to read some past documentation about Serengeti National Park before embark on your afternoon game drive. If the Great Wildebeest Migration will be in vast Serengeti plains you will go straight to where they are & spend much time with the herd anticipating to spot some animals actions like hunting, eating, fighting even killing. Late afternoon before or during sunset drive back to your camp for dinner & overnight.

Day 6: Serengeti – Ngorongoro – Nature Walk
Distance: 95 km
Non game viewing time: 2 to 3 hours
After breakfast start your en route game drive towards Ngorongoro Conservation Area reach the lodge in the afternoon for hot lunch, after lunch & some rest, we will take you for a guided nature walk at the Northern Crater rim of Ngorongoro is inhabited by herds old buffalo, elephant, wild pig, baboons, monkeys and different bird species. Escorted by an armed ranger you will follow animal paths through dense bush, a walk can take about 1 to 2 hours. Alternatively much game drive in Serengeti & drive to Ngorongoro for overnight.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater
On this day of your amazing African family safari “The big cat Tanzania safari” combine Zanzibar beach after breakfast descend 2000 ft high walls into the Crater floor for a wonderful game drive (picnic lunch will be served inside the crater floor). Ngorongoro Crater is often defined as one of the wonders of the world. It is the world’s largest unfolded volcanic caldera and a natural sanctuary for some densest animal populations but mistakenly called Ngorongoro crater. The Crater is one of the few places in the world where the rare black rhino can be observed in their natural habitat.
Anticipate to spot many animals species like lion, hyenas, jackals, elephant, zebra, hippos, rhino, antelopes, many birds and other species which include flocks of flamingos at Lake Magadi. With a bit of luck the ‘Big 5’ can be seen in a course of one day game drive. late afternoon drive to Country lodge in Karatu Town for dinner & overnight.

Day 8: Ngorongoro – Lake Eyasi
Distance: 55 km
From Ngorongoro you will proceed to the home of hunters and gathers “The bushmen. Bushmen is ethnic group inhabiting the area around Lake Eyasi bearing similar characteristics to those bushmen in South Africa. This indigenous tribe is divided into three clans, the Datoga (who are blacksmith) Hadzabe & the Tindiga. This is possibly the last living community in true harmony with nature and have wealth of Fauna and Flora and knowledge to share with you. Around Lake Eyasi you will also have a chance to visit the remotely living Datoga tribe well-known for their lively leather dresses. This day will be filled with visits and cultural encounters around Lake Eyasi. Enjoy a beautiful sunset at the banks of Lake Eyasi before going to your camp.

Day 9: Lake Eyasi – Lake Manyara National Park – Arusha
Distance: 60 km
Non game viewing time: 2 to 3 hrs.
On this day we take you for an early morning hunting with bushman (The Hadzabe) using bows & arrows including tuition on survival skill, later return back to your lodge for full breakfast before departing for Lake Manyara National Park. This park is small but beautiful located at the base of the Great East African Rift Valley with a lot of underground water streams that floors to the Lake & makes it green yearly around. Park’s varied habitats supports large number of animal species which include herds wildebeest, zebra, warthog, giraffe, buffalo and others.
The highlight of this park is the tree climbing lions & larger flock of flamingos feeding at this Lake. Other predators to be seen are leopard, hyena, cheetahs & jackals, (packed lunch will be served in one of the picnic site inside the park). Late afternoon return back to Arusha for dinner & overnight.

Day 10: Arusha – Zanzibar
After a leisurely breakfast at your lodge, transfer to Arusha domestic Airport in time for your flight to Zanzibar Island. On arrival at Zanzibar airport meet our representative and transfer to Ocean Paradise Beach Resort on the Northeast cost of Zanzibar Islands or Karafuu Beach Resort & Spar on the Southeast coast of Zanzibar Islands. Dinner and breakfast included.

Day 11 – 14: Beach Extension in Zanzibar
Relax and enjoy the African family safari on the white sand beaches of Zanzibar and if you wish you can book some water sports organized by Resort.

Day 15: Zanzibar Beach – Spice Tour – Stone Town
After breakfast transfer to Stone Town. On the way you will do our famous spice tour. We have developed a special spice tour with information not only about spices, but also organically grown herbs and a detailed description about their traditional uses in medicine cosmetics and cooking. In the afternoon we invite one of Zanzibar family for sumptuous and filling lunch, where you can taste the spices and tropical fruits you have just learned about and seen growing freshly. After lunch & some rest drive to Tembo house hotel in Stone town, afternoon at leisure.
Tembo hotel is conveniently located at Stone town’s beautiful waterfront where in the afternoon locals are gathering on the beach for football, gymnastics & relaxation while socializing on the sand. Day 16: Half Day Trip to Prison Island
From Tembo beach in Stone Town (Option) a trip to Prison Island with a traditional wooded dhow. The island is a breeding station for some Giant Aldabra tortoise, which you can visit and feed them with spinach (sold at the reception of the station). Around Prison Island there are many nice reefs ideal for snorkeling. Snorkel gears can be rented from the boat captain at extra cost, you can have lunch at the restaurant on the Island & later return back to stone town.

Day 17: Departure Day
After breakfast you will have a transfer to Zanzibar airport for your flight back home. In case your international flight is starting from Dar es Salaam a domestic flight to Dar es Salaam can be included in you package price however, we advice to fly out of Zanzibar to avoid some extra cost for domestic flight. Breakfast included.
